11 Things We Need to See in 'Orange Is the New Black' Season 5
It's been almost a year since "Orange Is the New Black" Season Four ended and left us with one heck of a cliffhanger. Season Five starts streaming for our viewing pleasures on June 9, and here are 11 things we absolutely need to see when it returns.
1. Daya's Decision
This is definitely the biggest burning question on every viewer's mind -- will she pull that trigger? Season Four ended with a major cliffhanger -- Daya pointing a gun at two guards (McCullough and Humphrey) in the aftermath of Poussey's death and an inmate uprising against the staff. We know we'll find out what happens soon, but we've been waiting a year.
2. Poussey Flashbacks
Last season, we lost fan favorite Poussey and now things at Litchfield will never be the same. We can only hope for a few flashbacks to see the wonderful Samira Wiley shine again, even if the scenes are brief.
3. Judy King's Destiny
Celeb chef Judy King had quite an effect on Litchfield last season. Last we saw her, she was heading out for early release and caught in the fray as Daya pointed the gun at CO Humphrey. If she does get released, she has a chance to go public and expose what's really going on at Litchfield.
4. The Fate of the Prison Staff
Bayley is responsible for Poussey's tragic death. Will he be back at Litchfield, even though Caputo championed for his defense in the TV press conference? We're also wondering if the much-despised Piscatella has a job to go back to and if Healy's mental health has improved.
5. More Flaritza
BFFs Flaca and Maritza are one of our favorite duos and often serve as comic relief amidst all the tragedy in Litchfield. Their backstories were among the most interesting we've seen -- let's go deeper, guys.
6. Come to Think of It, More Sophia
Sophia spent most of last season being tortured in SHU. Here's hoping Laverne Cox gets some more screen time during the new season.
7. Ingalls Out of SHU
Sister Ingalls sacrificed herself to SHU in a risky plan to release Sophia, but she was still stuck there at the end of last season. Fans need some follow-up here.
8. The State of the Psych Ward
Will Lolly leave the Psych Ward? After all Crazy Eyes has been through, will she get sent there, too?
9. Alex and Piper. Together. For Real.
We know these too are prone to the whole will they/won't they thing and prison relationships are, well, complicated, but Alex and Piper seem at their happiest when they just admit that they're into each other. On that note, we also hope Alex can dodge the dangerous odds against her and stay safe.
10. No More Deaths, Please
Seriously. Last season was tough. Season Five takes place over the confined time period of three days, so we're hoping that's short enough to keep all of our beloved inmates alive.
11. New Flashback Backstories
We're ready for more flashbacks that give us some insight into the outside lives of new inmates -- or semi-new inmates like Hapakuka, Abdullah, or "Ouija."
