New on DVD and Blu-ray
"Inferno"
Tom Hanks returns as symbologist Robert Langdon in his third Dan Brown novel adaptation -- after "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels & Demons" -- once again directed by Ron Howard, and this time co-starring Felicity Jones and Ben Foster. Check out the mystery thriller as it debuts on Digital, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on Tuesday, January 24. Bonus features include deleted and extended scenes, and six behind-the-scenes featurettes.

"The Light Between Oceans"
Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender star in this deep moral dilemma drama, based on the novel by M.L. Stedman, about a couple living on a remote island who discover a baby girl washed up on shore and decide to (secretly) raise her as their own, only to later discover that the girl's mother (Rachel Weisz) has been searching for her. The film arrives on DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital on Jan. 24. Blu-ray and Digital bonus features include audio commentary and two featurettes: "Bringing The Light to Life," documenting the filming process in New Zealand; and "Lighthouse Keeper," explaining the duties of a lighthouse keeper.
"Peanuts by Schulz: Snoopy Tales"
Charlie Brown, Snoppy, and the rest of the Peanuts gang are back in the Jan. 24 DVD release of 32 new episodes, offering more than three hours of cartoon viewing. This first new animated Peanuts cartoon series in over 10 years presents stories from the original, print comic strips, told through a series of animated vignettes.
"The Handmaiden"
Park Chan-wook ("Oldboy," "Lady Vengeance") directed this critically acclaimed crime drama inspired by British author Sarah Waters's novel "Fingersmith," transferring the story to 1930s-era colonial Korea and Japan. The drama -- out on DVD and Digital Jan. 24 -- follows a Japanese lady living on a secluded estate; a Korean woman is hired to serve as her new handmaiden, but she's secretly involved in a plot to defraud the lady of her inheritance.
"The Monster"
Zoe Kazan, Scott Speedman, and Ella Ballentine star in this horror film about a bloodthirsty creature that targets an unsuspecting mother and daughter on a late-night road trip. Watch it through the fingers covering your eyes when it arrives on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital Jan. 24. The discs include the bonus featurette "Eyes in the Darkness."
New Video on Demand, Rental Streaming, and Digital
"Trolls"Justin Timberlake still can't stop the feeling from this eye-popping animated musical, as happy Troll Poppy (Anna Kendrick) teams up with curmudgeon Branch (Timberlake) to rescue friends from the pessimistic Bergens. Watch the feel-good fun play out when the movie arrives on Digital HD on January 24, before the Blu-ray and DVD debut on Feb. 7. The "Party Edition" includes four interactive Party Mode features.
"The Path" Season 2 (Hulu)
Aaron Paul returns in the second season of this Hulu original series, following members of a fictional religion called Meyerism. Season 2 starts January 25. FYI, Hulu made Season 1 available for free on YouTube, to get noobs hooked and ready to subscribe to see what happens next.
"Z: The Beginning of Everything" (Amazon)
Christina Ricci plays Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald in this Amazon original drama series following her life -- starting from before she meets unpublished writer F. Scott Fitzgerald and continuing through their love affair and marriage. The journey begins Friday, Jan. 27. Check out the trailer:
"Lost in Florence"
Stana Katic costars in this romantic drama available digitally, On Demand, and in theaters on Friday, Jan. 27. When Eric Lombard (Brett Dalton) proposes to his girlfriend during a romantic trip to Florence, he is shocked when she turns him down and heads home. Heartbroken, he stays behind with his cousin Anna (Stana Katic) and her Italian husband who introduces him to calcio storico, an ancient form of football played every summer in Florence that combines rugby and street fighting. Eric finds himself falling for Stefania (Alessandra Mastronardi), the girlfriend of his teammate Paolo (Alessandro Preziosi). As their secret relationship heats up, and the all-important final game approaches, Eric finds himself at a crossroads.
"A Patch of Fog"
A TV host/novelist who likes a bit of shoplifting is spotted by a security guard, who then blackmails the star into a friendship. The cat-and-mouse thriller, starring Stephen Graham and Conleth Hill, is available on VOD and streaming Jan. 24.
"iBoy" (Netflix Original)
Maisie Williams and Bill Milner star in this Netflix original movie, which is available for streaming this Friday, Jan. 27. Tom (Milner) is an average teen whose world is turned upside-down when local thugs attack him, leaving remnants of his shattered smartphone embedded in his brain. When he wakes from a coma, he discovers he has a strange new set of superpowers, which he uses to get revenge on the thugs, who also assaulted his best friend, Lucy (Williams). Here's the trailer:
"Home: Adventures With Tip & Oh" Season 2 (Netflix Original)
The second season of DreamWorks Animation's "coming-of-age buddy comedy" arrives January 27, following Tip and Oh in stories set after the events of the 2015 movie "Home."
"Hieronymus Bosch: Touched by the Devil"
Pieter van Huystee directed this 2015 Dutch documentary examining the work and fantastic imagery of 15th-century painter Hieronymus Bosch. It's available on Netflix January 24.
TV Worth Watching
"Riverdale" (Thursday on The CW at 9 p.m.)
This is a big week for CW show returns -- including "Supergirl," "The Flash," and more -- but don't forget about a different kind of comic book hero: Archie. The CW's new teen drama starts this week, giving a modern new spin to the classic Archie/Betty/Veronica/Jughead characters. The first episode -- "Chapter One: The River's Edge" -- starts with new school year beginning, while the town of Riverdale is still reeling from the tragic death of high school golden boy Jason Blossom. Watch the mystery unfold starting Jan. 26.
"Scandal" Season 6 (Thursday on ABC at 9 p.m.)
It's TGIT time! ABC pushed the Thursday night lineup back a week, but on Jan. 26, "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 and "How to Get Away With Murder" Season 3 return, and between those shows we have the long-awaited premiere of "Scandal" Season 6. Usually "Scandal" starts in the fall, but this season was delayed from Kerry Washington's pregnancy. Now you can see the "surprising" results of the presidential election between Mellie and Francisco when "Survival of the Fittest" launches the season.
"Screen Actors Guild Awards" (Sunday on TNT at TBS at 8 p.m.)
When actors honor other actors, we all win. During the 23rd annual SAG awards -- honoring just the stars of film and TV -- Lily Tomlin will receive the Life Achievement Award. Here are the 2017 nominees.
"Atlantis Rising" (Sunday on National Geographic at 9 p.m.)
You can't keep James Cameron away from the Atlantic! The Oscar-winning director and Emmy-winning filmmaker Simcha Jacobovici teamed with a group of archaeologists, scientists, and historians to search for the true "Atlantean" civilization and try to plot the location of the lost city of Atlantis. See the adventure play out Jan. 29 on the National Geographic Channel.
