New Video on Demand, Streaming, and Digital

"Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom"
It's Labor Day week, but Chris Pratt and his dino buddies are hard at work getting ready for the September 4 release of "Fallen Kingdom" on Digital/Movies Anywhere. The "Jurassic World" sequel will be available on 4K Ultra HD, 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, and On Demand on September 18.

The releases come with more than an hour of bonus content -- including Chris Pratt’s behind-the-scenes "Jurassic Journals" captured on-set. Also, as a heads-up for "Jurassic Park" fans, you can complete your "Jurassic" library to date when the all-new five movie collection arrives on 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD September 18. But don't forget that a third movie in the "Jurassic" trilogy is still on the way.

"Sick for Toys"
This original Christmas horror/thriller arrives on Digital and VOD September 4. Based on a story by James Oster and screenplay by Justin Xavier, "Sick for Toys" stars Camille Montgomery, Jon Paul Burkhart, Justin Xavier, David Gunning, Melanie Thompson, Morgana Shaw, and Paul T. Taylor Here's the synopsis:

"Roy is the nice guy who finishes last. Sick of his current situation, he accepts an invitation to have Christmas dinner with the beautiful and strangely alluring Emilia. Once at dinner, Roy realizes that Emilia and her oddball brother (Edward) are not what they seem."

"Trench 11"
This horror film arrives on VOD, Digital and DVD on September 4. Directed by Leo Scherman, "Trench 11" stars Adam Hurtig, Karine Vanasse, Rossif Sutherland, Shaun Benson, Charlie Carrick, Ted Atherton, Robert Stadlober, and Luke Humphrey. Here's the synopsis:

"A highly contagious biological weapon, created by German forces in WWI, is discovered by Allied troops as they explore an abandoned underground bunker. Realizing they need to contain and destroy the threat, their mission becomes a fight for survival when one of their own is infected by the deadly parasite and begins to violently attack them. The soldiers now need to not only save themselves, but must stop the outbreak before it spreads to the rest of the world."

"Mara"
Here's another horror-thriller -- must be the season! -- arriving in theaters and on VOD/Digital HD this Friday, September 7:

"From a producer of Paranormal Activity and Insidious comes this shock-filled descent into fear. After a man is seemingly strangled in his bed, criminal psychologist Kate Fuller (Olga Kurylenko) interviews the sole witness, the victim’s eight-year-old daughter, Sophie. When asked to identify the killer, Sophie says, 'Mara.' As Kate digs into the case, she unearths a community of people who claim to be tormented by a shadowy menace, a centuries-old demon who kills her victims as they sleep."

"I Love You, America" (Hulu Original)
In this new series, Sarah Silverman attempts to connect with people who may not agree with her personal opinions -- using good old-fashioned honesty, humor, genuine interest in others, and not taking herself too seriously.  New episodes start streaming on Hulu this Thursday, Sept. 6:

New Amazon Prime Original Series:

Netflix and Hulu don't get to have all the fun; here are three Amazon Prime series ready for streaming as of this Friday, Sept. 7:

• "Six Dreams" Season 1: The Prime Original series is a behind-the-scenes look at Spain's top football league, LaLiga. It follows six contrasting storylines revolving around three players, one coach, one sports director and a club president from various teams, who all offer unique insights into the daily challenges of professional football.
• "Wishenpoof" Season 2B: The Prime Original series chronicles the life of Bianca and her magical power of making wishes come true. "UFO"Sony Pictures Home Entertainment

The truth is out there: "X-Files" queen Gillian Anderson co-stars in this sci-fi thriller -- alongside Alex Sharp, David Strathairn, Ella Purnell, and Benjamin Beatty -- which debuts on Digital and DVD September 4.  "UFO" was written and directed by Ryan Eslinger. Here's the synopsis:

"Derek (Alex Sharp) a brilliant college student, haunted by a childhood UFO sighting, believes that mysterious sightings reported at multiple airports across the United States are UFO’s. With the help of his girlfriend, Natalie (Ella Purnell), and his advanced mathematics professor, Dr. Hendricks (X-Files’ Gillian Anderson), Derek races to unravel the mystery with FBI special agent Franklin Ahls (David Strathairn) on his heels."

"Hereditary"
It's horror week, and this one is a biggie. Toni Collette stars in this indie hit, arriving on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, Digital, and DVD this Tuesday, Sept. 4. Gabriel Byrne, Alex Wolff, Ann Dowd and Milly Shapiro co-star in the film, which comes with nine deleted scenes and a behind-the-scenes featurette with the cast and crew.

Oh, Mister Rogers. This heartwarming and highly acclaimed documentary paints a portrait of the kindly man behind the cardigan. Meet Fred Rogers September 4 on Blu-ray, DVD, and On Demand.

"Black Panther"
Wakanda can be yours forever, or for at least as long as this Marvel film is on Netflix, starting September 4. Don't forget that Disney is launching its own streaming service for Disney/Marvel/Lucasfilm titles, so stream these Marvel titles while you can.

"Sierra Burgess Is A Loser" (Netflix Film)
Netflix is really on a streak with relatable teen series/films. Shannon Purser (Barb on "Stranger Things") and Noah Centineo ("To All the Boys I've Loved Before" co-star in this teen comedy that's a modern retelling of the "Cyrano de Bergerac" tale. "High school is hard. Dating is harder. But finding yourself? That's the hardest." Kristine Froseth, RJ Cyler, Chrissy Metz, Lea Thompson, and Alan Ruck co-star. Check out the trailer.

 "Atypical" Season 2 (Netflix Original)
"Every family is imperfect. Every family is unpredictable. Every family is Atypical." Sam Gardner (Keir Gilchrist) and family are back for Season 2 of this coming-of-age series starting this Friday, September 7. Here's the trailer.

"Next Gen" (Netflix Film)
This cool and cute-looking animated film launches September 7. "A friendship with a top-secret robot turns a lonely girl's life into a thrilling adventure as they take on bullies, evil bots, and a scheming madman." Characters are voiced by John Krasinski, David Cross, Michael Peña, Charlyne Yi, Jason Sudeikis, and Constance Wu. Here's the trailer.

 "First and Last" (Netflix Original)
That's a lot of teen, kid, and superhero stuff. If you're looking for another one of Netflix's trademark hard-hitting docuseries, check out this intimate look at the emotionally charged first and last days of new and soon-to-be-released inmates at Georgia's Gwinnett County Jail. Season 1 streams September 1.

 

TV Worth Watching

"Kidding" Season 1 (Sunday on Showtime at 10 p.m.)Showtime

Following the premiere of "Shameless" Season 9 is this new dramedy series from Jim Carrey. It's actually his first series role in over 20 years. Here's more:

"Jim Carrey stars as Jeff, aka Mr. Pickles, an icon of children's television, a beacon of kindness and wisdom to America's impressionable young minds, who also anchors a multimillion-dollar branding empire. But when Jeff's family begins to implode, he finds no fairy tale or fable or puppet will guide him through the crisis, which advances faster than his means to cope. "Mayans MC" Season 1 (Tuesday on FX at 10 p.m.)
Kurt Sutter's "Sons of Anarchy" spinoff finally premieres this week. The next chapter in the saga is set in a post-Jax Teller world, introducing EZ Reyes (J. D. Pardo), a prospect in the Mayans MC charter on the border of Mexico and California. Start your journey with this club on September 4.

"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" Season 13 (Wednesday on FXX at 10 p.m.)
Mac got ripped and Dennis became a sex doll! Season 13 is already awesome, just from the trailer alone. The Gang's *almost* all here starting September 5, so don't miss one of the funniest shows on television.

"The Bad Seed" and "You" (Sunday on Lifetime at 8 and 10 p.m.)
"Sharknado" is over, so we need something new for the so-bad-it's-good file. No promises -- 'cause these might be so good they're good -- but Lifetime has a couple of contenders airing September 9:

• Rob Lowe is directing and starring in a remake of the Oscar-nominated 1956 thriller "The Bad Seed." Mckenna Grace plays the title character bad seed.  Patty McCormack, who played the young girl in the original movie, has been cast for a co-starring role in the remake.

•  "You," starring Penn Badgley, Shay Mitchell, Elizabeth Lail, and John Stamos, has already been renewed for a second season. So it's OK if you get hooked. The story follows bookstore manager Joe, who falls in love with a customer named Beck and quickly becomes obsessed with her.
