"The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" is coming to Netflix later this year. "Mad Men" breakout Kiernan Shipka stars as Sabrina Spellman.

The show comes from Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, creator of The CW's "Riverdale," which is in the same universe as this Sabrina series. They're both Archie Comics characters, and Aguirre-Sacasa is Chief Creative Officer at Archie Comics.

He's been teasing out photos and details on the upcoming Sabrina series, including -- a few months ago -- the first look at the live-action Salem the cat. He just shared the first poster, which puts Salem right at the center of things, where he belongs:

"The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" is meant to be a lot darker than Melissa Joan Hart's "Sabrina the Teenage Witch." It was first going to be a companion series to "Riverdale" on The CW, but Netflix picked it up for a straight-to-series order.

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

"The show will reimagine the origin and adventures of the comic book character Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age tale that traffics in horror, the occult and witchcraft. It's described as in the vein of Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist and finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while fighting the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit. [...] Sabrina Spellman is described as an empowered young woman, half-human, half-witch, who is just beginning her dark education as a sorceress, even as she tries to maintain a normal life as a sophomore at Baxter High. Intelligent, compassionate and brave to the point of recklessness, Sabrina is all that stands between us and the forces of darkness that threaten our world."

The series also stars Jaz Sinclair, Lucy Davis, Miranda Otto, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, Richard Coyle, Ross Lynch, and Tati Gabrielle. Bronson Pinchot is also meant to recur as Baxter High's villainous principal.

We're still waiting on a trailer and premiere date.
