Netflix Renews 'One Day at a Time' For Season 3
More days are coming for "One Day at a Time."
Netflix has renewed the critically-acclaimed comedy for Season 3. Thirteen half-hour episodes will stream sometime in 2019.
The reboot of Norman Lear's classic '70s series follows a Cuban-American family consisting of single mom and military veteran Penelope (Justina Machado), her teen daughter (Isabella Gomez) and son (Marcel Ruiz), and her own mother (EGOT winner Rita Moreno). Todd Grinnell and Stephen Toblowsky also star.
Netflix took its time in renewing the show, which prompted critics and Latino groups, like the National Hispanic Media Coalition, to advocate for a third season.
"One Day at a Time" has received praise for its themes of inclusiveness and diversity and for addressing issues including PTSD, immigration, and LGBTQ rights. The show also prides itself on diversity behind the camera; showrunner Gloria Calderon Kellett said all of the episodic directors were women, people of color, or both.
