Netflix's 'Dumplin' Trailer Turns Jennifer Aniston Into a Pageant Mom
Jennifer Aniston is all big hair, big smiles, and big Southern charm in the trailer for Netflix's upcoming movie, "Dumplin.'"
Based on Julie Murphy’s 2015 novel, the film follows Willowdean (Danielle Macdonald), the plus-sized daughter of an overbearing Texas pageant queen (Aniston). She decides to enter the local Miss Teen Blue Bonnet competition, with an an assist from drag queens ("the closest thing you can get to Dolly Parton around here").
Mostly, Willowdean is "trying to make a point" about standards of beauty. And of course, her mother is one of the pageant's judges.
Parton and Linda Perry contributed several tracks to the the movie’s soundtrack. Parton also partnered with Sia to perform a cover of her hit “Here I Am” for the movie.
Aniston's honey-sweet Southern accent is just perfect, but Macdonald looks to be the performance to watch for.
"Dumplin'" premieres December 7 on Netflix.
