Mr. Rogers Documentary Trailer Asks 'Won't You Be My Neighbor?' on His Birthday
It's a beautiful day in Mr. Rogers' neighborhood.
The first trailer is here for "Won't You Be My Neighbor?," a documentary about Fred Rogers, the host of the classic children's television show. Today would've been Rogers' 90th birthday.
Oscar-winning director Morgan Neville ("20 Feet From Stardom") explores Rogers' background as a Presbyterian minister who wanted to write and produce uplifting programming for kids in the Pittsburgh area. His popularity soon took him to the national stage.
Mr. Rogers spread a message of love and compassion for all and tackled issues like divorce, death, and caring for neighbors.
"Love is at the root of everything — all learning, all parenting, all relationships, love. Or the lack of it," he says. "And what we see and hear on the screen is part of who we become."
"Won't You Be My Neighbor?" opens in select theaters June 8.
