Mark Ruffalo is in final negotiations to bring his Hulk character to "Thor: Ragnarok," Deadline reports.

The third installment of the Chris Hemsworth-starring Marvel flick will be directed by Taika Waititi and will open in theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.

Ruffalo first appeared as the Hulk/Bruce Banner in 2012's "The Avengers" and its sequel, this summer's "Avengers: Age of Ultron." As Deadline notes, Ruffalo's version of the Hulk has yet to appear in a standalone movie. Previously, Eric Bana portrayed the green giant in Ang Lee's 2003 "Hulk" film and Edward Norton had a turn in 2008's "The Incredible Hulk."

In "Ultron," moviegoers were left puzzled about The Hulk’s whereabouts at the conclusion of the film, and fueling further confusion, Marvel pulled Ruffalo's scheduled crossover appearance in "Captain America: Civil War," which opens May 16, 2016.

At the time, Ruffalo appeared to be uncertain about The Hulk's future.

“I don’t even know if Hulk will be back soon,” the actor reportedly revealed to Italian website BadTates.it (translated by Comingsoon.net) in a September interview. “The reason is too great to be revealed in this movie,” he reportedly said. “I was in the script but then they removed my character. They don’t want to reveal where is he and why.”
