Mandy Moore Is Not a Fan of the Theory Linking 'Tangled' & 'Frozen'
Mandy Moore makes the most horrified face when told about the "morbid" fan theory connecting Disney's "Tangled" and "Frozen" -- not to mention "The Little Mermaid."
Moore voices Rapunzel in "Tangled: The Series," which just premiered on the Disney Channel. In a video interview with TVLine, the "This Is Us" star was asked if she'd heard of the "crazy" fan theory.
She said no, so the interviewer explained the theory that the parents of "Frozen" characters Anna and Elsa died in a shipwreck on the way to the wedding of "Tangled" characters Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. The theory suggests that's why we see Flynn and Rapunzel in Arendelle for Queen Elsa's coronation in "Frozen."
That's the only part that Moore was told and she reacted with horror. The reporter asked if it was the most morbid thing she'd ever heard. Moore answered, "That's a pretty morbid fan theory. It feels like someone's really reaching -- like into 'Lost' territory or something." Or "This Is Us" territory, she allowed. "There is no connection, as far as I know. I don't think there's any connection, no. But sure. People can imagine what they will all day. That's their prerogative."
A fan theory on Tumblr added "The Little Mermaid" to the equation, saying it's possible the sunken ship in "The Little Mermaid" was actually the king and queen of Arendelle's lost ship. Their post even included maps of the locations -- Corona in Germany, Arendelle in Norway, and "Mermaid" near Denmark -- to argue that it's possible.
The fan theory is sad, but not really morbid. And it would further prove that Disney is a small world, after all.
