The guilty verdicts were just the beginning on "Making a Murderer."

Netflix released the trailer for Season 2 of its true crime documentary series, which became a cultural sensation in its first season. The follow-up examines the post-conviction process for Steven Avery and his co-defendant and nephew Brendan Dassey, their families, and the legal teams fighting for justice on their behalf.

Filmmakers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos aim to provide insight into the continuing legal battles taken on by Avery and his new lawyer, Kathleen Zellner, and Dassey and his team.

If you saw Season 1, released in December 2015, you know that Avery served 18 years in prison before he was exonerated by DNA evidence. Then, he was arrested and convicted of murdering photographer Teresa Halbach, as was his nephew Brendan Dassey. The first season brought up many questions: Was Avery once again wrongfully imprisoned? Was Dassey's confession coerced? Had evidence been planted? Was there a police cover-up?

Season 2 will ask even more questions, as Avery and Dassey's lawyers attempt to get them out of prison.

"Once somebody’s convicted, they have to move mountains to get out of prison," says Dassey's attorney Laura Nirider. "Our task now is to upend an entire system that favors the prosecutors.”
