Macaulay Culkin Doesn't Regret Turning Down 'The Big Bang Theory': 'I'd Be Bashing My Head Against the Wall'
A lot of actors would be tortured by the success of "The Big Bang Theory" after turning it down, but Macaulay Culkin is not one of them.
The actor recently sat down for an interview on "The Joe Rogan Experience," and he covered a wide variety of topics, such as his fame as a child, Johnny Depp's many scarves, and the importance of passion projects. Along the way, he shared that he said no to "The Big Bang Theory" a whopping three times and still doesn't regret the decision.
"I'd have hundreds of millions of dollars right now if I did that gig," Culkin said. "At the same time, I'd be bashing my head against the wall."
Apparently, he wasn't impressed with the pitch. He said it was essentially, "these two astrophysicist nerds and then a pretty girl lives with them. Yoinks!" Although Culkin didn't directly criticize the show, he did also say he "couldn't see [himself] doing a sitcom or a television show kind of thing" unless it was "a good one."
At least his decision to turn down the show turned out to be a positive one for everyone involved. He obviously wouldn't have been happy doing it, and the show wouldn't have the cast it does now if he'd said yes.
You can watch Culkin discuss "The Big Bang Theory" below, starting around 39:30. Warning: The interview is NSFW.
