Live Version of 'Lip Sync Battle' Is Coming Soon to Central Park
"Lip Sync Battle" is going live!
Spike's breakout hit show is putting on a one-off, double-header live performance at SummerStage in New York's Central Park, according to Vulture. It's meant to be "a big thank-you to our fans," said executive producer Casey Patterson.
"Lip Sync Battle" has taken TV and the Internet by storm this spring, every week producing viral videos of celebs locked in lip-synching showdowns. This special SummerStage performance will likely include four celebrities in two battles, mouthing two songs each. The celebs in question are currently undetermined, but hosts LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen will be on hand.
"We're very interested in seeing [the format] live and seeing what it would look like in a festival model," Patteron explained. "This is a great way for us to test the waters for that. I think it's really going to soar in this environment."
For those "LSB" fans unable to get to New York, alas, the performance will not be streamed. However, the show is talking to "Good Morning America" about a special segment to broadcast that same day, so everyone across the country could get at least a sneak peek.
"Lip Sync Battle" is in preproduction for season 2. The remaining season 1 episodes begin airing July 9.
