Chinese actress Li Bingbing, who appeared in "Transformers: Age of Extinction," will star as a superhero in "Realm," based on an original idea from legendary comic book mastermind Stan Lee.

The film is from Chinese production and distribution company Fundamental Films and Stan Lee Global Entertainment. The screenplay is by Alex Litvak of "Predators" and "The Three Muskateers."

“What a kick it has been to create our first Chinese female superhero, and an empowering one at that,” said Lee, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “It has been such a fun experience bringing to life an international woman character, and the ability to do so has been different from anything we’ve ever done! I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of it.”

Li, who also is attached to "The Nest" as star and producer, will be one of the producers of "Realm."
