Leaked 'American Horror Story' Set Photos Link Season 6 to 'Murder House'
It happened. It's history. It's certainly good fodder for a horror show. But is "American Horror Story" Season 6 focusing a lot of attention on the lost colony of Roanoke, or are the new set photos shared by TMZ just showcasing a small part of the story?
Here are the photos:

So far, Ryan Murphy has yet to reveal the official theme of AHS Season 6. We have been given the logo and some vague (but very creepy) teasers, and we were told the new season is meant to have a focus on children. FX boss John Landgraf added, "It's set in the present although with echoes of the past. It's set in two time periods ... but principally in the present."
If there are "echoes of the past," it certainly seems like that past will be connected to Roanoke and the mystery of "CROATOAN," the word left on a tree after 117 people vanished from the 1590 North Carolina colony.
There's already an AHS connection to Season 1, "Murder House," when Sarah Paulson's medium Billie Dean Howard discussed the mystery of Roanoke, adding her own twist, and Taissa Farmiga's Violet tried (and failed) to use the Roanoke spell on Chad the host (Zachary Quinto).
Here's the story Billie Dean told (via IBTimes):
"In 1590, on the coast of what we now know as North Carolina, the entire colony of Roanoke—all 117 men, women, and children—died inexplicably. It became known as the ghost colony because the spirits remained. They haunted the native tribes living in the surrounding areas. Killing indiscriminately. The elder knew he had to act. He cast a banishment curse. First he collected the personal belongings of all the dead colonists. Then they burned them. The ghosts appeared, summoned by their talismans. But before the spirits could cause them any more harm, the elder completed the curse that would banish the ghosts forever. By uttering a single word. The same word found carved on a post at the abandoned colony. 'Croatoan.'"
And speaking of Billie Dean and children, back in Season 1's "Spooky Little Girl" episode, Billie claimed, "A child born of human and spirit will usher in the end of times, it is the essence of evil, a perversion of the immaculate conception." Fun!
So let's get ready to head back to Roanoke, and dig further into the mystery of CROATOAN, among other things. You coming? AHS Season 6 premieres September 14 on FX.
