'Game of Thrones' Star Kit Harington Says 'Not on Your Life' to More of His Role
Don't expect to see Jon Snow in any of the possible spinoffs HBO is developing.
Kit Harington recently chatted with BBC News about his role in the play "True West," and when the topic of "Game of Thrones" came up, the actor made something very clear: He is not interested in continuing the show or reprising his role in the future. In fact, the way he put it was, "Would I want to go back and do more? Not on your life."
Now, that's not to say Harington didn't enjoy being on the hit series. He described leaving it as "a huge emotional upheaval" and called the people involved family. He's just ready to move on. As he pointed out, he spent 10 years working on the show.
HBO might not need its original "Game of Thrones" stars in any spinoffs anyway. The premium network has ordered a pilot for a prequel, for example, and it takes place thousands of years earlier, long before any of their characters existed. Either way, none of the possible shows are expected to premiere before 2020, and a lot can happen between now and then.
Assuming Harington sticks to his word, the final season of "Game of Thrones" will be his last run as Jon Snow. It is set to premiere in April on HBO.
