Kit Harington is trying to make a point.

Marvel superheroes are the apex of pop culture.

So when Kit Harington calls out Marvel in a discussion about masculinity and homosexuality, he's not *just* talking about Marvel.

The "Game of Thrones" star made his comments during the Toronto Film Festival, while promoting his new film "The Death and Life of John F. Donovan" with costars Emily Hampshire and Thandie Newton, and director Xavier Dolan.

The film follows, in part, a closeted TV star whose public outing leads to a career and life meltdown.

With that background in mind, here's what Harington said, via Variety:

"There’s a big problem with the idea of masculinity and homosexuality, that they can’t somehow go hand-in-hand. That we can’t have someone in a Marvel movie who’s gay in real life and plays some superhero. I mean, when is that going to happen?”

As the other person pointed out, they were talking about actors, not characters like Loki. And by "actors," Kit Harington was specifically talking about men, and how being "manly" is still too often paired with being straight.

Sure, Sir Ian "Magneto" McKellen is kind of an exception, but it's pretty clear Harington was referring to Marvel superhero poster boys like the Hollywood Chrises, etc.
