Kerry Washington Pregnant With Second Child, 'Scandal' Season 6 May Be Delayed
Kerry Washington is reportedly pregnant, expecting her second child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha.
The news was first shared by E!, which cited two sources confirming the actress's pregnancy. Us Weekly also said that it had confirmed the news, though there's been no official word yet from either Washington actress or her reps regarding the story.
Washington, 39, and Nnamdi, 35, are already parents to daughter Isabelle, who was born in April of 2014. The pair got hitched in a secret ceremony in Idaho in June 2013.
It's unclear right now how Washington's ABC series, "Scandal," will accommodate the star's pregnancy. According to TVLine, the network is mulling holding the show's upcoming sixth season until the 2017 midseason, though no firm decision has been made so far. (ABC's 2016-2017 schedule is due to debut in two weeks, per TVLine's report.)
Washington's first pregnancy, which occurred during production of "Scandal"'s third season, was not written into the series; instead, ABC cut the show's episode order and decreased Washington's screen time. It's unlikely that "Scandal" will work Washington's pregnancy into the script this time around, either, especially following Olivia Pope's decision to have an abortion earlier this season. But we won't know how Washington's news will affect her onscreen alter ego until either ABC or Shondaland makes an announcement.
Either way, we wish Washington and Nnamdi well as they prepare for baby number two. Congrats to the growing family!
