Kerry Washington's 'Game of Thrones' Fan Parents Embarrassed Her at Emmys
"Game of Thrones" fans, but at least they're not Lannister siblings. Give them that much. The "Scandal" star was on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" last night, and when the conversation turned to the Emmy Awards, Kerry shared a story about her GoT-loving mom and dad.
A couple of years ago, she said, she took her parents to the Emmys and they embarrassed her at the HBO party. Kerry is a big "Game of Thrones" fan, but only because of her parents, who were into the show (and books) first. She acknowledged that that's a little weird, considering some of the stuff on the show, and things got even weirder at the party when her mom met Khal Drogo, aka actor Jason Momoa.
Kerry's parents have been married for over 40 years or so, she couldn't remember, but when meeting Khal Drogo, "My mother turned into a 16-year-old girl. It was like 'My son and stars!' She just lost her stuff. She's standing next to my father swooning over this man." Jimmy noted that Jason Momoa is a good-looking guy (true) and he's big. What did Kerry's dad think while his wife was mooning over Drogo? "I think my dad's crush is about the same," Kerry said, "so he didn't mind." She mimicked his reaction with a grin and a thumbs-up sign. Jimmy said that would be a helluva threesome, and Kerry was just traumatized at the idea. "Jimmy, I can't unring that bell." Jimmy kept trying to get her to visualize the threesome, but she wouldn't. "Well, your mother did." Haha.
Kerry and Jimmy also agreed that it was "selfish" of author George R.R. Martin to be at the Emmys this past Sunday instead of staying home to write the next book. Poor GRRM cannot catch a break.
