Forget 'American Idol': Kelly Clarkson Joins 'The Voice' as Judge
In spite of rumors that "American Idol" reboot as a judge, the first winner of the reality singing competition show is headed to its competitor instead.
NBC's "The Voice" has locked down Clarkson as a Season 14 judge, Variety reports. She'll sit in one of the panel's spinning chairs alongside Blake Shelton and Adam Levine, plus one more still unnamed judge. Apparently, her addition to the program is one NBC has been hoping to make happen for quite some time.
"We've gone back and forth about a role as a coach for years, but the timing hasn't been right until now," Clarkson said, according to Variety.
Although "American Idol" is the show most people associate with Clarkson given that it launched her career, she has a past relationship with "The Voice," too. The singer has appeared on the show multiple times before, both as an adviser and performer. As a judge, we'll see if Clarkson can help any of the contestants become as successful in the industry as she has been.
As popular as "The Voice" is, it hasn't produced any musicians with a career like hers.
