Julia Louis-Dreyfus has breast cancer, a diagnosis the Emmy-winning actress revealed on her social media accounts on Thursday.

In a post on Instagram and Twitter, Louis-Dreyfus shared the statistic that one in eight women are diagnosed with the disease in their lifetimes. "Today, I'm the one," she continued.

"The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union," Louis-Dreyfus wrote. "The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let's fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality."

Veep." The trade reports that the actress's health was not a factor in the recently-announced decision to end the series after its upcoming seventh season, and that the "writing team will continue to work on scripts for Season 7, whose production will be adjusted to accommodate its star if needed."

HBO released a statement about Louis-Dreyfus's diagnosis, saying, "Our love and support go out to Julia and her family at this time. We have every confidence she will get through this with her usual tenacity and undaunted spirit, and look forward to her return to health and to HBO for the final season of 'Veep.'"

And "Veep" costar Tony Hale also offered his support for the actress.
