Johnny Galecki Speaks Out After House Burns Down in Massive Fire
"The Big Bang Theory" star Johnny Galecki was not home, thankfully, when his home in San Luis Obispo County burned to the ground.
Local station KSBY said the Hill Fire, as it's called in California, covers around 1,5000 acres and is still threatening other homes in the area. Close to 250 people were evacuated from their homes Monday night and roads leading to the area of the fire were closed. (Evacuation orders were lifted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, for people living near the Hill Fire.) According to KSBY, the fire started about 6.25 miles east of the town of Santa Margarita around 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
Galecki spent the weekend performing at Chicago's Country LakeShake Festival. TMZ said his ranch is about 190 miles away from Los Angeles, and he reportedly hadn't seen the property since it burned down, but he was planning to return to the ranch as soon as road closures were lifted to recover any spared memorabilia.
Galecki spoke to TMZ about the fire:
"My heart goes out to all in the area who are also experiencing loss from this vicious fire, the threat of which we live with constantly, which may seem crazy to some but we do so because living in our beautiful, rural area makes it worthwhile. .. It's never the structures that create a community -- it's the people. And if the people of Santa Margarita have taught me anything it's that, once the smoke has cleared, literally and figuratively, it's a time to reach out and rebuild. We've done it before, and will need to do it together again, and it will make our community even closer and stronger. Endless thanks to CalFire and the Sheriff's Office. I know you guys are fighting the good fight to keep us safe. So very relieved no one has been hurt."
Yes, it's a relief that no one was hurt. And, yeah, Galecki has more than enough money to rebuild a home. But we all have precious things in our houses that are priceless and irreplaceable to us, and he may have lost a few in this fire, since he wasn't there to claim anything before it burned.
