John Cena in Talks to Join 'Suicide Squad' Sequel/Reboot
John Cena is close to signing up for the "Suicide Squad" sequel/reboot.
The wrestler-turned-actor is in talks to join Idris Elba and Margot Robbie in the follow-up to 2016’s “Suicide Squad," according to Variety. The details of his character were not revealed.
"Guardians of the Galaxy" mastermind James Gunn is writing and directing the movie. He is bringing his own take to the project, so it's not quite a sequel, but it's not a complete reboot either.
Along with Robbie as Harley Quinn, returnees from the original movie include Viola Davis and Jai Courtney. Elba was thought to be replacing Will Smith as Deadshot, but will reportedly play a new character.
This would be Cena’s first comic book movie. After years as one of WWE's most popular stars, he transitioned to film, appearing in comedies like "Trainwreck" and "Blockers" as well as the "Transformers" spinoff "Bumblebee."
