Carrie Fisher is getting a farewell from "Star Wars" worthy of a princess.

Fisher's death last December was a major loss for her family, friends, colleagues, and fans. But they'll have a chance to see her as Princess Leia one last time on screen in "The Last Jedi," since she had completed filming her scenes for the movie. And co-star John Boyega, who plays former stormtrooper Finn, promises that the send-off is one that honors Fisher's "Star Wars "legacy.

"This movie, it sends her off in an amazing, amazing way," Boyega told ABC News. "And she is still kept alive in this franchise. That's the beauty of it: She lives forever in a sense."

Boyega revealed that Finn and General Leia have several scenes together. "We worked together closely on this," he said, adding, "We really enjoyed each other's company."

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has said that "The Last Jedi" won't be altered to address Fisher's death and that Leia won't appear in "Episode IX." Taken with Boyega's comments, that seems to hint that Leia will survive and her absence in the next movie will be explained somehow.

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" opens in theaters December 15.
