Did you know that "How I Met Your Mother"? Obviously "The Big Bang Theory," but the connecting thread is a legen --wait for it -- dary fan theory shared on Reddit that Sheldon is actually Barney from HIMYM in an opposite dimension.

Parsons was on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" and they posted a video of the actor responding to real TBBT fan theories found on Reddit. Each theory came with a three-point list of "evidence." The first two theories were "Sheldon is actually Spock in disguise" and "Bernadette is actually a cyborg created by Howard." Both sound kinda tinfoil-hat nuts, but the evidence also kinda backed them up.

The third theory was the Barney one, and the only "evidence" was that the characters of Barney and Sheldon are polar opposites in every way. Parsons was intrigued, and shared the story of his HIMYM audition:

"The funny thing about this is I auditioned to play Barney, and felt I was very wrong for it, and almost ran screaming from the room after I auditioned. Like, 'Well I did that and I don't know why.' They actually made me come back, as if they were interested. Not interested enough, because the right person got that part, Neil Patrick Harris. But I find this fascinating that I have this loose-ish connection to this part, and you've got this theory -- that's not true -- but you've got that theory at all. Maybe I'm giving that vibe off. Maybe underneath this character I've been playing is a raging horndog and a womanizer. ... This one is as close to the truth as one's going to get."
