Jed Allan, a veteran soap opera actor who also appeared on "Beverly Hills, 90210," has died at the age of 84.

Allan's son, Rick Brown, announced the news on Facebook.

"So sorry to post the very sad news of my father’s passing tonight,” he wrote. “He died peacefully and was surrounded by his family and loved so much by us and so many others.”

Allan was known for his starring roles as Don Craig on Days of Our Lives, C.C. Capwell on Santa Barbara as well as for playing Steve Sanders’ dad, Rush Sanders, on Beverly Hills, 90210.

Allan started out on the CBS soaps "Love of Life" and "The Secret Storm." In 1971, he joined "Days of Our Lives," playing Don Craig for 14 years. In 1986, he moved to "Santa Barbara" to play to patriarch C.C. Capwell.

When the soap ended, Allan joined the cast of "Beverly Hills, 90210" as Rush Sanders, the father of Ian Ziering’s Steve.

Ziering posted a touching tribute to his TV dad on Instagram, saying, "So sad to hear we’ve lost another 90210 classmate." Allan's death came just a few days after star Luke Perry passed away.

Allan is survived by three sons.
