The "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie cas may be starting to come together.

News about the film began rolling in quickly this week. Roughly a day after That Hashtag Show reported on May 29 that Paul Rudd was in the running to star as Tom in the upcoming video game-inspired action flick, the outlet reported that he was, in fact, no longer in consideration for the role, per Paramount. Now, the latest is that James Marsden will star in the film, as sources tell Variety.

The report didn't specify whether the "Westworld" actor would take the role of Tom. The character is said to be a police officer who works along Sonic the Hedgehog to stop the villain Doctor Robotnik. Whether or not Marsden plays Tom, though, he'll take a break from cavorting with androids and instead run around with a blue anthropomorphic hedgehog.

The movie is based on the Sega video game series that debuted in 1991. It will blend animation and live-action as Sonic works to bring down his nemesis.

The "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie is slated to open Nov. 15, 2019.
