James Corden is going back to Broadway as the host of the 2019 Tony Awards.

The "Late Late Show" host previously hosted the Tonys in 2016 and has won an award himself, for his leading actor performance in "One Man, Two Guvnors" in 2012.

"I’m thrilled to be returning to host the Tony Awards, the Broadway community is very dear to my heart and I’m beyond proud to be part of this incredibly special night," Corden said in a statement.

Corden is a big fan of the stage and musicals. He appeared in the movie adaptation of "Into the Woods" and often incorporates theatrical bits into his nightly talk show, including a a 12-minute movie musical retrospective last December with "Mary Poppins Returns" stars Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

And of course, everyone knows his love of "Carpool Karaoke."

In his first gig as Tonys host, he memorably opened the show with a touching tribute to the victims of the shooting at Orlando's Pulse nightclub, which left 50 people dead the same day of the broadcast.

Nominations for the 2019 Tony Awards will be announced April 30. The Tony Awards ceremony will air June 9 on CBS.
