James Corden Delivers Emotional Tribute to Manchester After Deadly Bombing
Last night on "The Late Late Show," host James Corden delivered a heartfelt tribute to the city of Manchester following the deadly bombing that claimed 22 lives and injured 59 people.
A suicide bomber blew himself up outside Manchester Arena as people were leaving an Ariana Grande concert. ISIS has claimed responsibility, CNN reports.
Corden praised the city for its "strong, proud, caring people," citing some of the famous bands that have come from the city, including Oasis and Joy Division.
"It's a place full of comedy and character. But when I think of Manchester, the place that I know, I think of the spirit of the people there -- and I'm telling you, a more tight-knit group of people you will be hard pressed to find," he said.
"Strong, proud, caring people, with community at its core. If it was even possible, the spirit of the people of Manchester will grow even stronger this evening.
"My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Manchester tonight ... and all of those families affected by tonight." He concluded, "We'll all go to bed holding our little ones even tighter this evening."
Grande has suspended her world tour after the tragedy, according to TMZ. She tweeted, "Broken. From the bottom of my heart, I am so so sorry. I don't have words."
