J.K. Simmons Clarifies: New Muscled Look Is NOT for 'Justice League'
So Commissioner Gordon will just happen to be seriously jacked, it's not part of the role. Got it.
We were pretty impressed to see J.K. Simmons, 61, busting his butt with trainer Aaron Williamson, in photos the trainer shared on Instagram. It was reported that Simmons was working out for his role in DC's "Justice League." That made sense. Everyone ran with it. But not so fast, 'cause Simmons told Huffington Post that was just "a gigantic misconception" and "I'm not going to the gym because of 'Justice League.'"
OK, but that begs the question: Why are you working out this hard, if not for a role?
"I'm just going to the gym because after the last time I got super fat and out of shape, I decided that I was done doing that. I was going to — for as long as I'm going to be on the planet — I'm going to try and take care of myself. So that's pretty much coincidental [to filming 'Justice League']."
However, Simmons also told the Huffington Post that "Justice League" director Zack Snyder is "a fitness maniac himself," and Snyder's office and the Warner Bros. soundstage in London have spaces converted into workout areas, making it look like Gold's Gym.
So "Justice League" definitely seems to be an influence on his new muscles, even if the actual role of Gordon wasn't the impetus. And now that he has these amazing muscles, he should probably lead his own action film, or try to be the next Bond villain. Don't hide those guns, put them to good use!
"Justice League" Part One is scheduled for release November 17, 2017, with "Justice League: Part Two" currently set for June 14, 2019.
