Horror Movies Scare Joey King; Now She Stars in One in Wish Upon
Let's clear one thing up right now: Joey King doesn't hate horror movies, which works out well since she's now starring in one, "Wish Upon," about a magic box that gives you everything you ever wanted -- until it doesn't. Her feelings about the genre can best be summed up as complicated.
"I like horror movies a lot," the actress tells Made in Hollywood reporter Patrick Stinson. "But that feeling when you're scared, it's just hard, you know?"
Maybe for her. But costar Ryan Phillippe, who plays King's father, enjoyed everything about the movie.
"I watched 'Wish Upon' myself for the first time last week," he says. " I read the script and it turned out to be exactly what I hoped it would be, which is this really good time at the movies."
As for the movie's ornate old music box, which grants seven wishes, costar Ki Hong Lee knows exactly exactly how he'd react if had one.
"Run the other way, which is kind of hypocritical of me because the box is right there," he says, pointing to a box siting in front of him and King as they spoke. "But this is fake."
King gives him a sly look: "No, it's not."
Better start running.
