"Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" is getting a reboot for the next generation.

A reboot/sequel of the 1989 adventure comedy is in the works, with Josh Gad to star, according to Slashfilm.

In the original film, a scientist dad (Rick Moranis) accidentally shrinks his son and daughter and the next door neighbor's kids down a quarter of an inch in size. After they get thrown out with the trash, they embark on an adventure through the backyard, battling massive insects and other outsized obstacles, to return home.

The new movie, titled "Shrunk," would take place in the same world as the original, about 30 years later. Gad would play the adult version of Adam Szalinski, the scientist's younger son who was featured in the 1992 sequel "Honey, I Blew Up The Kid." Adam accidentally shrinks his own kids; hijinks ensue.

There was talk of a "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" follow-up to stream exclusively on Disney+, but Slashfilm reports that this project is intended for theatrical release. Disney is currently searching for a director.
