"Baby Gal Morgan" has officially made her social media debut.
Hilarie Burton shared the first photos of her newborn daughter with longtime partner Jeffrey Dean Morgan via Instagram Tuesday. The actress revealed not only their little girl's name and birth date, but also the heartbreak she and Morgan endured before having their second child together. While they've had plenty of tears of joy lately, that certainly wasn't always the case.
Burton started on lighthearted note, sharing that Morgan had asked her to write a post because of his "track record of 'spilling the beans.'" With all the fan conventions in Europe he has lined up, the "Walking Dead" star was afraid of "tripping up." They opted instead to have Burton introduce their daughter, George Virginia Morgan, who was born on Feb. 16.
It turns out that George was a long time coming -- five years, in fact. Although Burton got pregnant a year and a half after they started trying for their second, they lost the baby and "more losses followed," the actress wrote.
"As so many couples know, it was heartbreaking. It still is heartbreaking," Burton added.
When she got pregnant with George, Burton said they were cautious and she avoided celebrating "for fear of jinxing it." Finally, however, their much-awaited "miracle baby" was born, delivered by Morgan himself. The couple is understandably thrilled, and Burton hopes their story will bring hope to others who are struggling.
Although George was born in mid-February, Morgan waited till March 1 to confirm her arrival. He kept it short and sweet, writing in part that "Baby Gal Morgan is spectacular." After Burton's March 6 post, he wrote that he "couldn't be more proud. Or lucky."
