Here's Who Ryan Murphy Wants Sarah Paulson to Play in Monica Lewinsky 'American Crime Story'
Ryan Murphy never likes to be predictable in making his TV shows — except for the constant presence of Sarah Paulson.
The actress has been a mainstay in Murphy's "American Horror Story" ("The People v. O.J. Simpson." And if Murphy gets his way, Paulson will appear in a potential future season of "American Crime Story" about the Monica Lewinsky/Bill Clinton sex scandal.
Murphy has optioned Jeffrey Toobin's bestselling book "A Vast Conspiracy." If he adapted it for "American Crime Story," it would have to be after season 2 (about Hurricane Katrina) and season 3 (about Gianni Versace's murder). But he already knows who Paulson should play in this hypothetical Lewinsky drama.
"I'm very interested and have talked to my good bartender friend Sarah Paulson about playing Linda Tripp," Murphy told Andy Cohen on "Watch What Happens Live." "So, we'll see if she would agree to do that, because I always think of Sarah for everything."
Tripp was a key figure in exposing Clinton's affair with Lewinsky.
Murphy also revealed he wants to cast a newcomer in the role, and that Bill and Hillary Clinton would not be "a huge part of the story."
He said, "It's about the birth of a specific movement in our country."
