Here Are the Most-Tweeted TV Shows From 2014-2015
There's watching TV and there's tweet-watching TV. A lot of us like to post reactions while our favorite shows and specials are airing, and Nielsen Social just released its report on TV-related tweets in the United States from September 1, 2014 to May 24, 2015. Here are top tweet highlights, via the Associated Press.
TOP SERIES
1. "The Walking Dead"
AMC's flagship zombie show had the largest Twitter audience throughout the season with an average of 4.3 million people seeing tweets about each new episode.
2. "The Bachelor"
3. "Game of Thrones"
4. "American Horror Story: Freak Show"
5. "Empire"
MOST TWEETED EPISODE
"Empire" won this honor with 2.4 million tweets sent for the March 18 finale. According to the AP, that made it the most tweeted series episode since Nielsen Social began tracking this stuff almost four years ago.
TOP TV ENTERTAINMENT SPECIAL
"The 57th Annual Grammy Awards" inspired 13.4 million tweets, and they were seen by 13.3 million people. "The Oscars" were close behind with 13 million Twitter viewers.
TOP TV EVENT
"Super Bowl XLIX" was boss with 16.1 million people checking out tweets about the game, halftime show and ads, with a total of 25.1 million tweets dispatched. That's a lot!
