HBO Makes Light of 'Game of Thrones' Coffee Cup Gaffe
After a mistake led to a coffee cup popping up in Episode 4 of "Game of Thrones" Season 8, HBO is laughing off the gaffe. The premium network joined in with the jokes from fans on Monday, issuing a statement that "explained" what happened.
"The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake," HBO wrote, per Variety. "Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea."
The official "Game of Thrones" Twitter account also shared the "news from Winterfell," spilling the tea to fans.

While, yes, a mixed up order is something we can all relate to, that's not what actually happened, of course. The cup was presumably forgotten on the table during filming. "Game of Thrones" Art Director Hauke Richter didn't know the specifics of how it happened, but he told Variety on Monday that such mistakes sometimes happen.
"It's not uncommon for such misplaced elements to mistakenly end up in the final cut of TV shows and movies," he wrote.
Good for fans for spotting it, but in the meantime, we have bigger things to worry about -- namely, who will live and who will die -- as "Game of Thrones" heads to its end. Episodes air Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
