Netflix likes being haunted.

"Haunting of Hill House" writer/director Mike Flanagan and his producing Trevor Macy have signed a big overall deal with the streaming service that includes a second season of the horror anthology, which will feature an entirely new story with new characters.

The deal is reportedly in the low eight-figure range for five or six years — putting it close to the nine-figure deals Netflix signed with superstar creators Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy. Under the deal, Flanagan and Macy will develop and produce new TV projects exclusively for Netflix under their Intrepid Pictures banner (but it does not cover their feature film projects).

A title for "Haunting" Season 2 has not yet been announced. Season 1, based on Shirley Jackson's novel, follows five adult siblings whose paranormal experiences at Hill House continue to trouble them in present day. Michiel Huisman, Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas and Elizabeth Reaser starred.

Flanagan and Macy are currently putting the finishing touches on "Doctor Sleep," the movie adaptation of Stephen King's 2013 follow-up to "The Shining." Starring Ewan McGregor, the film opens November 8.
