TriStar's LGBT rom-com "Happiest Season" might have found one of its leading ladies.

Kristen Stewart is in negotiations to star in the film, per Variety's sources. Assuming all goes according to plan, she'll be directed by Clea DuVall, who wrote the screenplay with Mary Holland. DuVall previously made her feature directorial debut with 2016's "The Intervention."

Stewart's prospective role wasn't revealed, but the film centers on a woman who gets an unpleasant holiday surprise. She plans to propose to her girlfriend during a family gathering, but it turns out that her would-be fiancee has conservative parents and she's never come out to them. We'd venture to say that makes for an awkward situation. So far, we don't know who'd star opposite Stewart.

The actress has several other films on the way. She stars in the upcoming "Underwater," "Against All Enemies," and "Charlie's Angels." Her previous work includes "Lizzie," "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk," and "Cafe Society," among others.
