The upcoming remake of "Grumpy Old Men" has found its writers. Dan Gregor and Doug Mand are penning the script, Deadline reports. They'll offer a new take on the story from the original 1993 comedy about two feuding neighbors.

The remake already has one of its stars on board, Eddie Murphy. He may star alongside Samuel L. Jackson, who is reportedly interested in the project. They'd play the two neighbors, who were originally played by Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. They saw their old rivalry rekindled when a new neighbor, Ariel (Ann-Margret), captured their interest.

Gregor and Mand were the writers behind "Most Likely to Murder," a film starring Adam Pally and Rachel Bloom that debuted at SXSW in March. Mand had a role in the film and Gregor directed. They're also set to script a remake of the 1993 film "Rookie of the Year." The duo has previously worked on TV shows such as "Crazy Ex Girlfriend" and "How I Met Your Mother."

Tim Story is set to direct the "Grumpy Old Men" remake, and John Davis is producing via Davis Entertainment.
