'Game of Thrones': Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Shares Just How Intense Season 8 Production Was
"Game of Thrones" Season 8 has a high bar to live up to, but from everything we've heard so far, the cast and crew did all they could to make sure the HBO series goes out with a bang.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's latest interview has further raised our expectations. The actor recently spoke with the Huffington Post, and he highlighted how much the cast and crew put into the final season.
"I think if it hadn't have been the last season, people would've just collapsed," he told the publication. "We wouldn't have made it."
He used the example of the battle shoot that went on for more than 50 nights, calling it "just unheard of." Although he didn't go into details, we know it was rough. The producers wrote a thank you message to the cast and crew that ended up being shared on social media in April, and it mentioned that they had to weather darkness, snow, rain, mud, and other unpleasant factors throughout the many weeks it took.
Still, although we believe Coster-Waldau when he says production was taxing, we can't accept that it's good they don't have to do it again. We still haven't come to terms with the fact that Season 8 is indeed the show's final one. It's just too unfathomable.
"Game of Thrones" Season 8 is expected to premiere in 2019.
