'Game of Thrones' Season 7: Iain Glen Perfectly Teases Jorah's Future
"Game of Thrones" actor Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) gets this week's gold star for expertly riding the line of hope and doom.
Season 7 is finished filming and will premiere this July on HBO. There's one season left, and it's expected to start filming this coming fall. Will Iain be around to film it? Does Ser Jorah survive Season 7? Will he even be in Season 7?
You know his greyscale must still be spreading. We last saw him in a sad farewell with his beloved khaleesi, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), who told him to go off and find a cure, then rejoin her posse as she takes the Seven Kingdoms. No pressure, though!
Iain Glen recently talked to Winter Is Coming about his character's fate:
"I've always enjoyed playing Jorah. It's been a role that's been good to me so far [...] There's quite a high death count in 'Game of Thrones' and they don't blanch at removing favorite characters. They just get rid of them in a brutal way. My end may well be close but so far I'm doing OK."
So far he's doing okay. Is he, though? Is his end close? Will he last to the end? Will he be MIA like Gendry for an extreme length of time, leaving fans to ask "Where's Jorah?" Will he head back to Bear Island, where he's originally from, a redeemed man at Dany's side, and earn the respect of his cousin, Lyanna Mormont? If Ser Jorah hadn't fled the Seven Kingdoms in disgrace, he'd be the head of House Mormont right now, instead of our adored mini queen. As much as we love Jorah, that's the great silver lining of his exile.
"Game of Thrones" Season 7 premieres Sunday, July 16 on HBO.
