'Game of Thrones' Star Explains How Bran Stark Tried to 'Rattle' Littlefinger
Everything is intentional on "Game of Thrones."
Season 7, Episode 5 had so many big developments that it was easy to miss the significance of a comment from Bran Stark. (Spoilers ahead if you haven't watched the episode!) When asked about some words fans may have already forgotten, Isaac Hempstead Wright confirmed to Time magazine that his character was trying to set Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish (Aidan Gillen) on edge.
The words weren't as flashy as the swordsmanship of Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) or as fiery as the battle won by Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and her dragon, but the comment was important nonetheless. During the conversation, Bran flexed a little all-knowing, Three-Eyed Raven muscle, telling Littlefinger, "Chaos is a ladder." The worlds alluded to a discussion Littlefinger had with Lord Varys (Conleth Hill) in Season 3.
"The fact that Bran heard that line means that he's gone back and looked through Mr. Baelish's timeline," Hempstead Wright told Time. "His intention is to slightly rattle Littlefinger, to say, in just a subtle, really creepy way, 'I know what you're up to.'"
It's about time someone had Littlefinger's number.
