Watch the First Trailer for 'Mindhunter,' David Fincher's New Serial Killer Series
David Fincher returns to "Zodiac" territory for his first series, "Mindhunter," about the formation of the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit, and it looks appropriately dark and disturbing.
Set in 1979, the series stars Glee" and "Lights Out." McCallany also played the imposing Mechanic in Fincher's "Fight Club."
It's based on the 1996 book by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker about the FBI's Investigative Support Unit. Per the book jacket, Douglas was the model for Scott Glenn's character Jack Crawford in "The Silence of the Lambs." His cases included the Atlanta child murders and Seattle's Green River killer, although we don't if those will be featured in the series.
It will be dealing with the notorious BTK Killer, since there's a listing for "Dennis Rader" on IMDb.
Fincher is producing the series and directed three of the 10 episodes in the first season. Anna Torv of "Fringe" costars.
"Mindhunter" debuts on Netflix on October 13.
