First 'Walking Dead' Season 6 Premiere Sneak Peek Offers Clues
Time for an undead road trip! An amazing trailer for "The Walking Dead" Season 6 debuted at Comic-Con, but last night -- just before the start of "Fear the Walking Dead" -- a sneak peek from the main zombie show's next episode aired on the "Talking Dead Season 6 Preview Special." This 45-second clip is our first glimpse at the supersized 90-minute TWD Season 6 premiere, which arrives Sunday, October 11 at 9 p.m. ET.
As you can see, out of context, it does not tell us too much. That's by design, since showrunner Scott M. Gimple and his questionable new facial hair said they purposely chose a clip that wouldn't give away many spoilers. But he told fans to watch the premiere closely because they'd be giving us clues to the whole season. He called it a "puzzle," and we accept the challenge, starting with this scene of Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) in a car.
Sasha, last seen almost killing Father Gabriel (a thought that tempts us all) in the Season 5 finale, is seen driving around 70 mph. (Should we stop and wonder how they still have plenty of gas?) Abraham asks if she's good, and she says yeah. He doesn't seem convinced, and she asks, "If you were so worried, why the hell did you get into the car with me?" Seriously, especially when she's driving. Then Sasha offers the most interesting hint as to what's happening: "Doing something as big as this, that's living." They look at each other, then Sasha says, "There it is."
As big as this. There it is. They are clearly on some kind of mission, possibly for a supply run, but they are not the usual supply runners -- she's a lookout in the Alexandria watch tower (when she's not burying herself with walkers) and he's on the construction crew -- so what are they doing and how is it "big"?
Here's the scene:
During the "Talking Dead" special, Scott Gimple said the Season 6 premiere would include more walkers than ever. He also compared Episode 601 to the Season 4 premiere and Season 5 premiere mashed together, in that Episode 401 (Farmer Rick, sick Patrick) basically functioned as an intro episode setting the stage for later action and Episode 501 (Terminus badassery) was non-stop action, and this Season 6 starter will apparently combine both.
Do you have a theory on what Abraham and Sasha are doing in this car, and where this scene will air in the 90-minute episode?
