First 'RBG' Trailer Celebrates Trailblazing Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Ruth Bader Ginsburg: History-making student. Wall-breaking lawyer. Notorious Supreme Court Justice. And now, Hollywood star.
Ginsburg is the subject of "RBG," a documentary made by Betsy West and Julie Cohen. The first trailer was released today and it starts with Ginsburg reciting a quote by 19th century abolitionist Sarah Moore Grimké: "I ask no favor for my sex. All I ask of our brethren is that they take their feet off our necks."
From there, the trailer mixes footage from Ginsburg's life with interviews with Ginsburg, her colleagues, her friends, and various experts including Gloria Steinem and equal-pay activist Lilly Ledbetter.
The documentary premiered at Sundance, where it received positive reviews. Ginsburg herself attended the premiere and even did a Q&A in front of a crowd including Robert Redford and CNN boss Jeff Zucker. At Sundance, she admitted to liking Kate McKinnon's portrayal of her on "Saturday Night Live."
"RBG" opens in limited release May 4.
