The CW held its upfront presentation today, and teased the annual Arrowverse crossover event.

"Arrow" star Stephen Amell shared the big news himself:

"We're incredibly excited to announce that we'll be doing another crossover event this fall on the CW, and we'll be introducing a new character. For the very first time appearing, we'll be fighting alongside Batwoman, which is terrific. The crossover is going to make it to air in December. I need to leave right now and start filming it."

The CW boss Mark Pedowitz confirmed that they're "adding the city of Gotham into the Arrowverse," describing the crossover as "another full-throttled, action-packed event."

The DC Comics character of Batwoman, aka Kate Kane, was reimagined in New 52. Kate happens to be a Jewish lesbian, which has a lot of fans excited (or wary) for more on-screen representation.

This will be the first time we're seeing Gotham in the Arrowverse, after its existence was teased a few times -- including when Oliver Queen name-droped Bruce Wayne. This will also be the first time any screen has shown Batwoman, Pedowitz noted.

Fans have strong hopes and fears for The CW's take on Batwoman:

The crossover will air in December, and we'll be hearing a lot more about it -- including casting -- in the months to come.

Meanwhile, The CW just revealed its fall 2018-2019 schedule, moving "Supergirl" to Sundays and "Arrow" to Mondays.
