A longtime "American Horror Story" staple will be missing from the upcoming Season 9. Evan Peters has revealed that he is going to "sit a season out."

Peters shared the news while on the red carpet at WonderCon in Anaheim, California. Footage (below) showed a reporter asking him if he is involved in the upcoming season. Peters answered in the negative.

To date, Peters has appeared in every season of the FX anthology series. He even played multiple characters in "AHS: Roanoke" and "AHS: Apocalypse." Sarah Paulson is the only other actor to have been involved in as many seasons as Peters has been.

The upcoming season is set to return in the fall, and most of the details remain under wraps, including the cast. Creator Ryan Murphy has revealed, though, that Gus Kenworthy is joining the franchise. The Olympic skier will play the boyfriend of Emma Roberts.

It remains to be seen what Peters will do instead of "American Horror Story." He could potentially return for a second season of "Pose," another Murphy-created show on FX. In the first season, he starred as Stan Bowes, a father, husband, and Trump Tower employee. Peters has also had roles in numerous recent films such as "Dark Phoenix," "Deadpool 2," and "American Animals."

"AHS" fans will miss Peters in Season 9, but, of course, the show must go on anyway.
