Edgar Wright Reveals His Next Film Is a Horror Thriller
Baby is going to have to take a back seat: After confirming he's making a sequel to his 2017 hit "Baby Driver," director Edgar Wright has revealed that his next film will involve a female lead, and a foray into a new genre.
In an interview with Empire, Wright discussed his upcoming projects, including "Baby Driver 2," for which the writer-director says he's already completed a script draft. But first, he's going to tackle a "straight-up psychological horror-thriller," according to Empire.
“I realised I had never made a film about central London – specifically Soho, somewhere I’ve spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years,” Wright told Empire of his new film, which will be set in the capital city. “With 'Hot Fuzz' and 'Shaun Of The Dead' you make movies about places you’ve lived in. This movie is about the London I’ve existed in.”
Wright also told the magazine that the film is inspired by classic thrillers like "Don't Look Now" and Roman Polanski's "Repulsion," which are certainly intriguing (and insanely creepy) influences. We're very curious to see who Wright casts as his female lead (maybe one of these women?), and what he does with such intense material.
The film, co-written by Wright and Krysty Wilson-Cairns ("Penny Dreadful"), starts shooting this summer.
