Disney Reveals When You Can Visit 'Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge'
Soon, "Star Wars" fans can travel to the edge of that famous galaxy far, far away.
Disney released a teaser video for "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge," the new attraction that will open in its theme parks next year. The video reveals the opening timeframe: Summer 2019 at Disneyland and then a few months later (think Fall 2019) at Disney World.
The video doesn't show much beyond an animated version of the concept art, but it's cool to see TIE fighters racing through the sky near a bustling city-like hub.
"Galaxy's Edge" will take visitors to the remote outpost planet of Batuu. There, they can fly the Millennium Falcon and ride on a star destroyer during a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
"This outpost is filled with characters, alien creatures, and droids. Some of them we have met before but some we're meeting for the first time. You're invited to participate them in your very own 'Star Wars' adventure," Disney imagineer Scott Trowbridge told audience members at last summer's D23 Expo.
