Disney Channel Star Cameron Boyce Dies at Age 20
Cameron Boyce, the young star of Disney Channel's "Descendants" movies and the TV series "Jessie," died Saturday at the age of 20.
Boyce's family said that the actor/singer died due to an "ongoing medical condition."
“It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron. He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated," his family said in a statement.
"The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him. We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.”
After making his acting debut at the age of 9, Boyce became a fixture on the Disney Channel. He played Luke Ross in the show “Jessie,” which ran for four seasons. He later played Carlos de Vil, the son of Cruella de Vil, in the “Descendants” TV movie series. "Descendants 3" is slated to premiere August 2.
He was also a series regular on HBO's upcoming dramedy "Mrs. Fletcher," which is due this fall.
Boyce also played one of Adam Sandler's children in "Grown Ups" and "Grown Ups 2." Sandler paid tribute to his on-screen son on Twitter, saying, "Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around."
Boyce's Disney co-stars and friends also took to social media to express their grief and condolences to his family:
