'Dirty Dancing' Stars Share First-Look Photos From the TV Movie
Nobody puts the original "Dirty Dancing" in a corner, but ABC is putting its TV movie on the dance floor next month. "Dirty Dancing" 2017 stars Abigail Breslin (Frances "Baby" Houseman), Sarah Hyland (Baby's sister, Lisa Houseman), Debra Messing (Mom Marjorie Houseman), Colt Prattes (Johnny Castle), and Trevor Einhorn (Neil Kellerman) recently shared photos on social media to tease the remake.
The photos also reveal co-stars Bruce Greenwood (Dad Jake Houseman), Billy Dee Williams (Tito), and Nicole Scherzinger (Penny Rivera).
Messing told People fans shouldn't expect a copy of the 1987 movie:
"This isn't a replica of the original. This takes some liberties. It has the DNA of the original, but you are going to find out what happened to Baby and Johnny after that summer ended. So there's some additional surprises in there that are new. My hope is that people who loved the movie are going to be happy with all the things that are iconic with the movie, that they'll appreciate the things that are new and modernized with this version."
"Dirty Dancing" will air over three hours Wednesday, May 24 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
